Taoqi is unique among the many characters in Wuthering Waves. Not only is she an excellent shield bearer, she can also deal considerable damage when used correctly. Although Taoqi doesn’t rank high in comparisons with other Resonators, once you dig deeper into her playstyle, you’ll find that she is not a weakling. This guide will teach you how to use her skills effectively.

A Brief Introduction To Taoqi

Taoqi, like Yuanwu, is defense-focused, but Taoqi is more focused on blocking and parrying. She is great for switching roles quickly. Taoqi’s main task is to provide a shield for the characters on the field and parry incoming attacks before making a strong counterattack. She can also make up for the relatively low DPS she has with the powerful burst damage of Forte Circuit and Resonance Liberation.

When using Taoqi, you need to cast her Resonance Skill first to obtain 3 Rocksteady Shield charges. Convert these charges into Resolving Caliber when attacked or when completing the last blow of a basic attack combo. Next, use Strategic Parry or Resonance Skill to parry the attack, and subsequent light attacks will consume Resolving Caliber to deal more damage.

Resolving Caliber is the name of Taoqi’s Forte Gauge, which represents how many empowered hits she can make when she holds a heavy attack for three seconds. This is her main source of damage.

Best Taoqi Build

While Taoqi is not as fast as Rover, and her hits are not as hard as Calcharo. But with the build in this guide, she will become very durable, and with the right weapons and Echoes, her burst damage is also quite good.

Discord is arguably Taoqi’s most ideal weapon at the moment, and its passive effect allows it to generate more Concerto Energy when Resonance Skill is triggered. Discord does not provide any additional defense or crit properties, but it allows Taoqi to rotate faster and more often. So get Discord into your Wuthering Waves Accounts as soon as possible.

Taoqi benefits less from attack power. Aside from her basic attack and Intro Skill, her equipment is mainly enhanced by Taoqi’s defense.

Moonlit Clouds or Rejuvenating Glow Echo Sets will both help Taoqi increase the damage output of the next teammate. Since Taoqi’s playstyle is mainly about getting in and out of combat quickly, these set bonuses will be put to good use.

Taoqi doesn’t rely too much on Echo active skills, but I recommend using Bell-Borne Geochelone. This reduces the damage taken by characters on the field and increases the damage they deal themselves.

Taoqi’s core value lies primarily in her ability to enhance her basic attacks through precise block timing, and to fully utilize this advantage, you should first consider upgrading her Forte Circuit first, and upgrade her skills to enhance healing and shield capabilities, and then Liberation to increase burst damage. While having Wavebands can significantly improve Taoqi’s strength, even without them, it won’t make much of a difference.

In short, mastering her playstyle will give you an advantage in combat.
