Amazon’s first MMORPG New World Aeternum has undergone a major overhaul, bringing a lot of new content and new changes to players, and the most noteworthy one is Cooking. Although the overall content of Cooking looks the same as the original, some adjustments have been made to the interface and some recipes.
This has led to some confusion for both new players and veterans of the original with the game’s most useful trade skill. But don’t worry, because this guide will give you a very detailed explanation of it so that you can quickly master it. Pick up your cooking tools and start our exploration!
In New World Aeternum, if you want to start Cooking, you need to use Camp feature. For players using PC, press Y button to open this interface; for players using controllers, you need to hold UP button on D-pad to activate the radial menu, and then select Camp feature here.
In Camp feature, you can access different levels of basic recipes such as Rations, Pots, and Bait, depending on your camp level, from Tier 1 to Tier 5. However, it is important to note that you must also build a Cooking Station in your Settlements before you can start the following operations.
Like recipes, your Cooking Station has 5 levels. The level increases depending on the growth rate of Settlements and the amount of dice in Town Projects that the reigning Guild has. When you approach your Cooking Station, you can press E (PC), Triangle (PS5), or X (Xbox) to open the cooking menu.
When selecting a recipe in the cooking menu, you can move the option to the side to set the number of recipes to be made. The more you make, the more Cooking Experience Points you will earn, and most importantly, the more New World Coins you can trade in.
You can try to make as many Tier 1 Recipes as possible using basic ingredients such as rations, and then slowly expand to Tier 2 or 3 and above. In this way, you will level up very quickly and get more recipes.
To level up Cooking skill in New World Aeternum, you need to make a lot of dishes and reach a certain level. Normally, this process is unending, but here are some tips and tricks to get there as soon as possible, which will help you quickly overcome the soft caps between Tier 1 and Tier 3.
First, you need to develop a farming route that best suits the ingredients you need, because this is the most timesaving and can also collect a lot of ingredients. For example, Salt needed in Bacon-Wrapped Scallops is distributed in various areas, so you can merge the farming routes of some ingredients in the same area together.
In addition, don’t miss any treasure chests during the exploration process, because such treasure chests can provide you with a lot of cooking ingredients. Most importantly, if you have enough New World Coins, you can also get the materials you want through Trading Post.
In addition, Provision Crates in Farms, Mills or Caves should not be missed, because they always provide you with some very valuable ingredients.
Once you have collected enough ingredients, you can go to your Cooking Station and start cooking. First, you can make about 50 Tier 1 Recipes, so that you have enough experience to upgrade to Tier 2. Then, at this level, after you make 100 Tier 2 Recipes, you can upgrade to Tier 3 with more functions.
Cooking is not just about putting some cooking ingredients together to upgrade directly. You can also mix flour and eggs together to form a composite material to achieve a quick upgrade. Similarly, making sausages and other meat derivates, cheese and other milk derivates can also achieve the purpose of upgrading.
But when you start to make Tier 3 to 5 recipes, you will find that it will be a bit challenging because it will start to require some intermediate materials, which need to be made at level 20/50 of Cooking Trade Skill. For example, spices made from salt, sugar, and herbs may need to be prepared in advance. So when you reach Cooking Tier 3, the real fun of this system begins.
Alternatively, if experience is becoming increasingly difficult to earn through crafting recipes, you can start raiding enemy settlements or develop your secondary Trade Skill Fishing. Both of these methods will help you gain experience faster at higher Cooking Tiers.
Fishing, Skinning, and Harvesting are the three Trade Skills you can choose to upgrade in New World Aeternum to maximize your Cooking skill upgrades.
Because Harvesting and Skinning will naturally level up as you collect materials like Meat and forage for Berries, Fishing is the best secondary Trade Skill for Cooking.
To quickly level up this secondary Trade Skill, you should start exploring Windsward Coast to the right of Amrine Temple, as there are two fishing Hotspots there for you to practice for a long time.
Additionally, the fish provided by these two fishing Hotspots will most likely allow you to harvest both meat and oil, both of which are very important cooking ingredients. There is also a chance to get some treasure chests containing provisions, mats, jewels, and New World Coins.
When the two fishing Hotspots enter the cooldown period, don’t rush to leave, because you can also get a lot of materials in the nearby Pirate Coven, such as the northern hills, where there are many wild animals such as Turkey, Rabbit and Lynx, and there are many wild vegetables, herbs, and berries in Amrine Temple.
Now that we know how Cooking system works, the upgrade strategy, and the best secondary Trade Skill, let’s take a look at the most worthwhile recipes to make in New World Aeternum and what effects they will have.
In addition, there are many recipes that can increase primary attributes or provide other enormous benefits waiting for your slow exploration. I hope you can experience a completely different game experience in this significantly changed New World Aeternum, and wish you have fun in the game!
