Diablo 4 has become a very mature ARPG after the first six seasons. In Season 7 PTR some time ago, the developer provided players with a new power called Witchcraft power, which can be used in your character’s builds, and said that it will become an important part of the new season.
The emergence of Witchcraft power will not only make Diablo 4 full of witchcraft but also have a certain impact on the builds of each Class. So in this guide, we will introduce you to 2 Witchcraft powers that have been announced and their functions, so that you can sort out your own builds ideas before the new season and adjust them accordingly.
I need to let you know in advance that in order to learn Witchcraft Power; you need to first complete Whisper bounties and defeat very bulky Headrotten enemies in Season 7 to obtain Restless Rot. Then, at certain Tiers, you will unlock the ability to learn more of this new power.
In Season 7 PTR, there are currently 24 different Witchcraft powers, and they are divided into four different schools of magic: Eldritch Powers, Psyche Powers, Growth & Decay Powers, and Lost Powers. In this guide, we will introduce the first two types of power. We will continue to pay attention to the subsequent types of power, so you can look forward to it.
In simple terms, Eldritch Powers is a type of magic that allows you to use destructive energy and shapeshifting abilities. You can use it to target enemies or bosses that are not resistant to magical damage, which will make your battle easier.
Whenever you consume 250 Resources, it will help you release an explosion and cause a large amount of Shadow damage to the target. If you cast multiple explosions in a row, the size and damage of each explosion triggered within 10 seconds after the previous explosion will increase by 130%.
But it should be noted that you can only stack this effect up to three times. When you spend some Diablo 4 Gold to upgrade this ability to Rank 10, the third explosion you cast will pull the target enemy towards you, making you closer to it, and then the damage caused by this explosion is huge.
You will see an ominous orb made of pure Eldritch energy surrounding you, and every enemy that touches it will suffer Fire damage. In addition, this ominous orb can be thrown or launched at distant enemies by your throwing skills, and will return along the same path.
When this skill is upgraded to Rank 5, each kill or damage to the boss will increase the damage capacity of this orb by 5%. Once it reaches 100%, it will explode and deal 5200 damage to surrounding enemies. Most importantly, the ominous orb will regenerate after three seconds and help you with the rest of the battle.
With this ability, a group of Firebats that can cause very deadly damage will fly out from behind you every two seconds and help you deal continuous Fire damage to the enemy. If you have a higher level of this ability, you will also see that the enemy will enter a three-second stun state after being hit by Firebat Servants five times in a row.
Hex of Flames is a skill that is more suitable for builds with higher Lucky Hit Chance. Because in this skill, you will have multiple chances to apply Hex of Flames to enemies or bosses, and each hit will cause the enemy to receive 1,600 additional Fire damage.
After Hex of Flames reaches Rank 7, your Critical Strike will cause Hex of Flames to explode and cause unpredictable damage to surrounding enemies.
In fact, the description of this ability in PTR is very limited. What we know is that it will increase the damage to Headrotten, and at Rank 10, this damage bonus will be extended to all monsters currently in Diablo 4. We can look forward to its specific performance in Season 7.
Shaken Soul allows you to generate Eldritch Effects in combat, which, when applied to an enemy will make them vulnerable for a period of time. After reaching Rank 10, the effect it generates increases by two Psyche and Growth & Decay Effects, but the duration is halved.
With it, no matter what skill you use, as long as it can cause damage to the enemy, you will cast Wave of Woe, which can cause additional Shadow damage and echo between all nearby enemies of the same type.
After you upgrade it to Rank 5, its damage will increase by 15% each time it echoes, and it can be guaranteed to echo at least 5 times. Most importantly, it can also attack the same target multiple times, so you can have a strong damage ability whether you are facing a group of enemies or a single target enemy.
Unlike the previous power, this one uses the defensive power of the mind and spirit to create an illusion that allows you to focus your attack or trick your enemies into going crazy.
You may hate being interrupted by enemies while casting offensive skills, and the same is true for enemies. With the help of this power, you can interrupt the enemy’s attack in combat and force them to charge again or change their attack method. But it should be noted that this effect does not work for bosses.
If you are not satisfied with the movement speed in your build, you can invest some Diablo 4 Gold to upgrade this power to Rank 5, as it will provide you with a 5% movement speed buff and reduce the enemy’s movement speed by 30%.
When you successfully hit an enemy for the first time, the enemy will be affected by Aura of Lament, and its speed and the speed of enemies around it will be reduced by 70%. In addition, you will also gain a Primary Resource per second for each affected enemy.
If the enemy you initially hit dies during combat, the effect will be transferred to another nearby enemy for the same duration. It’s worth noting that this effect can only be triggered once every 30 seconds.
The damage you deal with Witchcraft Effects will cause enemies to be affected by Hex of Shattering - the amount of damage they deal to you over 5 seconds is greatly reduced. At Rank 8, you’ll find that any Hex Effect applied to Headrotten will cause you to deal with Critical Strikes over 5 seconds, regardless of the elemental damage you’re using.
Do you often feel like your health is too low? Life Link will help you solve this problem by automatically linking your health to up to three nearby enemies. Part of the damage you take from an enemy will be returned to the linked enemy as physical damage.
Please note that this effect does not apply to PVP mode. At Rank 15, you will receive a Critical Strike as part of the damage returned to the enemy within ten seconds of using a Defensive, Macabre or Subterfuge Skill.
As a Sorcerer who frequently casts spell damage, having a barrier in combat is an important way to protect your output. With Twilight Warding, you will gain a barrier every few seconds that absorbs 100 damage for five seconds. Even when you upgrade it to Rank 12, this barrier will reflect enemy projectiles sent to you.
Players are often attracted to Necromancer’s ability to summon minions, and in Vengeful Spirit, you can also summon a Vengeful Spirit Servant, and it will take all the damage you would have taken while it is active, regardless of which Class you are using. If Rank 5 Vengeful Spirit Servant runs out of health, it will rush to the enemy group in the last second of its life and can deal 2,000 Shadow damage to up to 8 enemies.
The above is the two types of Witchcraft Power that will appear in Diablo 4 Season 7. I hope that with the help of this guide, you can make adjustments based on your existing builds that are more suitable for exploring the next season. I wish you a happy exploration on Season 7!
