For any ARPG, classes are a very important and fundamental mechanism that affects every aspect of your gaming experience, so the birth of new classes is always eye-catching. If the new class is well-designed and easy to use, it will undoubtedly bring more players to the game.
For example, in October 2024, Diablo 4 launched a new class, Spiritborn, in the then-new DLC Vessel of Hatred. If you paid attention, you would have found that Spiritborn received a lot of attention even before it was officially launched.
Although Spiritborn is not a perfect class, it has indeed brought many benefits to Diablo 4 and players in the past few months - such as making the game gain more attention, and also allowing you to use its strength when playing Spiritborn to get more Diablo 4 Gold in a single battle.
Now that 2025 is here and Season 6 is about to end, you may be curious whether Diablo 4 plans to continue adding new classes? Based on this, we will make some relevant speculations. To satisfy your curiosity and help you prepare for the new classes that may come.
Given how well Diablo 4 has performed since launch, you might guess that the next new class will be released in the fourth quarter of 2025, about a year after the release of Vessel of Hatred, along with the next expansion.
When Diablo 4 first came out, the game officials said that the series might release an expansion every year, but later said that this would be done in a more flexible way, which may remind you of Diablo 3.
Diablo 3 released its first major expansion, Reaper of Souls, in 2014, and it was released less than two years after the release of its base game. It is worth noting that the new Crusader class in this DLC is actually a redesign of Diablo 2 Paladin.
Like Diablo 2, Diablo 3 only has one major expansion, but has since received additional DLC. In June 2017, Diablo 3 released Rise of the Necromancer expansion, and after five years of players asking for it, the most popular class was finally added to the game. While it may not take as long for Diablo 4’s new expansion to be released, a similar approach may be taken when adding new classes, just like Diablo Immortal.
As a new class for DLC Vessel of Hatred, Spiritborn is also the native of the new map Nahantu. So you can infer that Diablo 4’s next class may be related to the game’s next upcoming region.
For example, according to relevant news reports, Diablo 4 is likely to add Harrogath region to the game in the future. But in the past, Barbarian once called this land home. Therefore, if the region is to be officially added, the game needs to introduce a different type of class.

From the types of classes that Diablo has introduced in the past, Monk, Amazon, and Witch Doctor are similar to Spiritborn, Demon Hunter and Assassin are similar to Rogue, and Warrior was replaced by Barbarian long ago. Therefore, if Diablo 4 is to allow classes that have appeared in previous games to return in the future, only Crusader or Paladin are viable options.
Besides selecting suitable objects from the classes that have appeared in the past to introduce as new classes, game developers can also try to change a former class from beginning to end, just like Spiritborn is actually based on Witch Doctor.
It is worth noting that two new classes were introduced in Diablo Immortal, namely Blood Knight and Tempest. If they are added to Diablo 4, the excellence of these two characters is likely to change the rules of the game. In addition, their addition will not only strengthen the recognition of the main line of Diablo games but also further highlight their special features compared to other characters in the current game, especially Blood Knight.
Because Diablo 4 introduced the vampire threat that appeared after Lilith was defeated in Season 2. Although Lord Zir and his accomplices were defeated afterwards, the vampire threat still exists in Sanctuary. Since Blood Knight class is essentially Blade Warrior of Sanctuary, using the power of vampires to kill the forces of Hell would make them one of the most ideal classes to be added in the expansion.
As for Tempest, as a mage who uses the power of water, they have enough uniqueness to distinguish themselves from other classes in the game, just as they did in Diablo Immortal. And Tempest comes from an island north of Sanctuary that has not appeared in Diablo 4 so far, which would make a great background for a new expansion, just like Spiritborn did in Nahantu.
In the future, Diablo 4 may expand to new maps. Although there are already many places to visit in the game, some of them may be more interesting, such as Cathedral of Light. For this reason, it would be more appropriate if the new returning class is Crusader or Paladin.
The above is our speculation on the possibility of introducing new classes in the future Diablo 4 DLC based on various existing information. I hope it can provide you with some reference. Thank you for reading.
